Wide Angle Digital Cameras

Wide angle digital cameras are fast becoming the one of the most popular features of a digital camera but you need to decide if this is a feature you need. It will probably cost a little more than ones without this feature but the satisfaction you will get from wide angle lenses will probably be immense.

The wide angle feature in cameras enables you to take landscapes, scenes, large group photos. It is a really great way to capture a feeling or a moment in time of an event or a mood of a place not so much of one person or one thing. It will enable you to take wider shots than you could normally take.

Providers of wide-angled digital cameras are numerous. Among the best I have found are Olympus, Nikon, Panasonic, Canon, Fujifilm and Samsung. All of these names you have probably heard before as the wide-angled feature appears to be very popular in the marketplace and rightly so.

Where once very few photographers could afford a separate lens attachment to their cameras, more and more cameras are becoming available with the wide angle option already installed on the camera. Because of the competition, you can be sure that these cameras are also reasonably priced.

I could not tell you precisely which brand or style of the camera is the best for you. You will have to weigh the options for yourself. Here are some considerations to think about:

  • Of course there are cost considerations and if you aren’t planning to take wide angle photographs, you could save a few by getting a camera that does not have this feature.
  • Or you may consider purchasing a wide-angled attachment lens for your existing camera, if available.
  • Wide-angled digital cameras now come in a variety of sizes, colors and styles.
  • The quality and clarity of your pictures will also be a consideration. If you are only planning to blog and post to YouTube, you may not need to have crystal clear wide angle photographs.

Photography is my hobby and I’ve owned many cameras in my day. One criteria for me was to be able to take telephoto shots and to look like a professional photographer doing so! It was not until recently that I wanted to take landscapes and scenery shots as well and wanted to be able to switch modes easily. But as far as landscapes were concerned, with my old camera I was reduced to pasting a collage of pictures together to get “the whole picture” so to speak.

Then, I saw the Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera online and it came with a wide angle lens. It takes videos and also liked the aesthetics and look of the camera and this camera will turn heads wherever you go. I’ve even had people come up to me and ask me if I worked for the newspaper or magazine!
